Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a type of manual exfoliation that not only eliminates the outer layer of dead skin cells but also helps to remove the vellous hairs (peach fuzz) on the face for softer feeling skin. This is the perfect pre-procedure treatment for any laser or IPL session so that the laser or light can penetrate deeper into the skin for better results.

How It Works

As the stainless steel blade is swept across the skin, debris and impurities are separated from live, active skin and gently removed. By angling the blade at a precise degree, we are able to achieve maximum exfoliation with minimal irritation. The procedure also cuts the vellous hairs very close to the surface of the skin, so people who suffer from noticeable peach fuzz will notice an instant positive change.

What To Expect

After using our three-step cleansing process, we will begin the dermaplaning treatment. A surgical blade is lightly placed on the skin and moved in a fluid, sweeping motion. The procedure takes about 15-20 minutes and feels like very light scratching. If this is a precursor to another treatment, we would begin the treatment immediately after. If not, a relaxing mask followed by a massage with antioxidant creams and sunscreen will conclude the facial.

Length Of Results

Peach fuzz grows back at different rates for everyone, but patients will usually see and the feel the difference for about 2-3 weeks after the treatment.

Number Of Treatments

Dermaplaning can be done every 3-6 weeks, depending on skin type and lifestyle.

Microdermabrasion

The DermaSweep™ MD micro resurfacing system is a non-invasive exfoliation and skin revitalizing system. Available only in medical offices, this crystal-free microdermabrasion machine gently removes the top layer of skin which is mostly dead skin cells and debris. The DermaSweep wand simultaneously vacuums away the dead skin in a precise and controlled manner. The skin is left smoother and cleaner than ever. This is an excellent procedure to pre-treat your skin before a chemical peel or laser/IPL treatment. It is also a perfect non-aggressive way of treating acne scarring and uneven texture.

How It Works

DermaSweep tips allow for constant airflow through the bristles. This unique feature causes the skin to be gently drawn up among the bristles which results in a more effective yet less irritating treatment. Similarly, the airflow throughout the bristles allows the vacuum pressure to be more evenly distributed which leads to deeper, more efficient suctioning.

What To Expect

We start by cleaning the face with our three-step cleansing process. Patients with moderate to severe textural problems or who want a more aggressive treatment will be dermaplaned as well. As the wand passes over the skin, you will feel a very mild suctioning as the impurities get vacuumed away. Several passes may be done with more attention given to trouble areas. Extractions can be performed if necessary. Because the skin is now primed to accept treatments at a much deeper level, your next step is crucial. There are several things to choose from: you can have a laser or IPL procedure with more effective results, a chemical peel with higher than average absorption, a serum infusion for an intense treatment, or simply continue with product application that will absorb deeper than usual. Microdermabrasion takes approximately 45-60 minutes.

Length Of Results

Skin will feel smooth and supple for 2-3 weeks after the procedure. Patients receiving treatments for acne scars or texture issues will notice a difference immediately, especially when applying products or makeup. The skin will continue to improve with additional treatments.

Number of Treatments

Depending on the sensitivity of your skin, most patients will receive a treatment every 4-6 weeks. If you are trying to correct a problem, more aggressive treatments every 2-3 weeks may be necessary. Conversely, if you are using excellent products and getting other anti-aging procedures, you may only need a microdermabrasion every 2-3 months.

Microdermabrasion + Serum Infusion

DermaSweep Epi-Infusion treatments combine superficial exfoliation with the delivery of topical solutions specifically designed to treat certain conditions. Choose from a hydrating hyaluronic acid serum, a powerful antioxidant treatment with vitamin C, a salicylic acid infusion to combat acne, or a skin brightening mixture of kojic acid and licorice extract.

How It Works

The DermaSweep MD has the ability to deliver skin-specific topical serums deep into the skin while simultaneously exfoliating the surface. As air flows evenly through the bristles, dead skin cells and other impurities are gently lifted off and vacuumed away. In the meantime, a powerful serum filled with ingredients tailored to your particular concern is directly infused into the skin.

What To Expect

We begin by thoroughly cleansing the skin. After all makeup and lotions are removed, we decide if a pre-treatment dermaplaning is necessary. Then the microdermabrasion and infusion takes place. During the exfoliation segment, the rhythmic movements of the wand will leave your skin feeling clean and fresh. Light extractions may follow. The serum infusion portion of the treatment feels like a relaxing, focused massage. The wand travels across the face in a sweeping, linear motion while pumping your skin full of antioxidants. We finish with a light massage of anti-aging products. The procedure is about 60 minutes in length.

Length Of Results

The feeling of smooth and hydrated skin lasts a few weeks. Coupled with a good skincare program, however, the refreshing glow may last even longer. Repeat treatments are necessary for optimal results.

Number Of Treatments

Treatments can be done every 4-6 weeks. Shorter time intervals may be recommended for patients attempting to treat a specific skin condition.
