INJECTABLES

Botox® and Dysport® (Neuromodulators)

Botox and Dysport are both purified proteins that temporarily relax wrinkles to provide a smoother look. They can be injected in many areas including the following common sites: between the brows, the forehead, and around the eyes. There are other areas that can be injected such as in the chin (to prevent an “orange peel” look), the underarms (to reduce excessive sweating), and the nose (for bunny lines). With the right amount placed in the proper muscles, you will still have natural movement while maintaining a youthful look.

How It Works

Botox and Dysport block the communication between the brain and the injected muscles. Without this interaction, muscles lay dormant and therefore do not make active expression. After a couple months, the blockage slowly begins to fade so that the muscles regain their activity.

What To Expect

After an analysis of your muscle movement and strength, a series of small shots are injected into the muscles. A precise amount of product is carefully placed into each site for maximum, lasting results. The entire procedure takes 10-15 minutes.

Length Of Results

You will begin to feel the effects 1 to 5 days after the treatment. The longevity of the product depends on three main things: your metabolism, your muscle strength, and how active those muscles are. Some people’s bodies will metabolize the product very quickly and will therefore need injections more often. Similarly, the stronger the muscles are, the more product you will need. Muscles we use frequently such as around the mouth and eyes will need to be injected more often since they are more active. Typically, results last around 3 months.

Number Of Treatments

Because Botox and Dysport are temporary, it is best to come in every 3-4 months to maintain optimal results. Do not wait until it completely wears off since there is a synergistic effect.

Restylane® and Juvéderm® (Fillers)

Restylane and Juvéderm are hyaluronic acid fillers that temporarily plump up mild to moderate wrinkles. Both products are infused with lidocaine to provide maximum comfort. Restylane and Juvéderm are versatile fillers that can be injected into many areas. The most common areas include the smile lines, lips, underneath the eyes, and marionettes. However, they can be placed almost anywhere there is a lack of collagen and fat: temples, hands, cheeks, acne scars, and many more.

How It Works

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is found naturally in the body – it is what hydrates and plumps up the skin. By placing the gel where HA is lacking, we are essentially restoring a vital ingredient back into the skin. Hyaluronic acid can bind up to 1000 times its weight in water, so its effects are both immediate and dramatic.

What To Expect

We will first examine the face and/or body part to determine which product is best. We’ll decide on the amount of syringes, thereby determining the level of aggression we’d like to achieve. We will also see if adding in other injectables would maximize results. The actual procedure is a series of injections into the affected areas and takes about 15-30 minutes. Because of the infused lidocaine, the procedure is virtually painless. Results are instantaneous.

Length Of Results

Outcomes are determined by the individual’s metabolism and location of product placement. If you have a fast metabolism, chances are the filler will not last as long as the average of 6-9 months. Location is also a major component: fillers placed in the lips where muscles are moving constantly will not last as long as fillers injected underneath the eyes where there is minimal movement.

Number Of Treatments

This is largely dependent upon how severe the initial collagen and fat loss are, where the filler is placed, and how much product was used. Typically, patients will return in 2-3 months to get a touch up with a half or another full syringe. This will prolong the final results for another 6 months or so.

Radiesse® (Fillers)

Radiesse is a volumizing filler consisting of calcium-based microspheres suspended in gel. It is used in patients with moderate to severe wrinkles and marked volume loss. It is great for filling in the temples, contouring the cheeks, and plumping up hands. Radiesse is also commonly used to soften smile lines and marionettes.

How It Works

Radiesse is a unique filler that helps to restore your own natural collagen. It acts as a scaffold underneath the skin that provides a robust structure and stimulates your existing collagen to proliferate. This growth can continue for several months after the procedure, resulting in long-lasting outcomes.

What To Expect

Our first step will be to determine whether or not Radiesse is right for your skin and for what you want to achieve. If we come to that conclusion, we’ll discuss the amount of product to use and if any other fillers should be incorporated into the treatment. The gel will then be mixed with lidocaine to provide maximum comfort. A series of injections placed in the right depth of your skin will give you the best, immediate results. Total treatment time is approximately 30 minutes.

Length Of Results

Because Radiesse stimulates the growth of your own collagen even after the gel has been metabolized by your body, results can last at least one year. However, the location of where the product is placed is very important; Radiesse injected into the marionettes will probably not last as long as if it were injected in the temples.

Number Of Treatments

This depends on a number of factors: how much Radiesse was used, where it was placed, and how quickly your body absorbs the product. Most patients will get another treatment in 9-12 months.
